Whenever I want fried rice, I want something new and exciting. Forget peas, eggs and carrots; we find some interesting combinations for fried rice.
I use beef and button mushrooms as the main ingredients for this recipe. Beef and mushrooms are always the best combination, even in pan-fried dishes. So, you can imagine how good it can be in fried rice.
ingredients
- Steak: Since we don’t marinate the meat in this recipe, the key to tenderizing it is to use steak.
- Champignon mushrooms: Compared to other mushrooms, button mushrooms contain less water and therefore are a great option for fried rice. You can use other mushrooms as substitutes. But remember to remove excess water.
- Aromatics: I use red onion and green onions as aromatics to enhance the flavors.
- Oil: for this you can use vegetable oil or butter.
- Leftover rice from the old days: leftover rice is the key to successful fried rice. Long grain jasmine rice is always recommended.
Sauce
- 1 tablespoon. light soy sauce
- 1/2 tbsp. dark soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tbsp. sugar
The sauce gives the fried rice flavor and color. We mix the light soy sauce with the dark soy sauce, giving the fried rice a delicious and attractive dark brown color.
Instructions
- Pour the sauce and seasoning into a bowl and mix well.
- Heat the oil in a pan and add the mushrooms. Fry until the mushrooms become soft. Then add the red onions. Fry for about half a minute until aromatic.
3. Distribute the beef cubes and brown them for 2 minutes until they are golden brown.
