These wraps are not only flavorful but also incredibly versatile. You can customize them with your choice of additional toppings like sliced avocado, black beans, or even a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. Whether you're serving them at a casual gathering or enjoying a quick meal at home, these chicken wraps are designed to be satisfying and easy to assemble.

Notes on ingredients

  • Chicken breast: For best results, use boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Beating them to an even thickness helps ensure even cooking.
  • Rice vinegar and soy sauce: Soy sauce adds salt, while rice vinegar adds a slight acidity. You can also use white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar.
  • Brown sugar: you can replace it with honey.
  • Spices: Chili powder and chili flakes add flavor and punch. Adjust chili flakes to control heat.
  • Spreadable mayonnaise: Combining mayonnaise with spices like paprika, cumin, and cayenne pepper creates that classic Southwestern-style flavor.
  • Tortilla wraps: Use large flour tortillas, including alternative, flavored wraps such as spinach, tomato and protein wraps.
  • Stuffed: Diced green chilies, lettuce leaves, sliced tomato, and pepper jack cheese are our favorites, but feel free to mix it all up!

No grill? No problem!

If you don't have a grill, you can easily cook the chicken in a pan or in the oven. For pan-frying, heat a drizzle of oil over medium heat and cook the chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through. In the oven, preheat to 190°C (375°F), place the chicken on a baking tray and cook for 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 74°C (165°F). Both methods will give delicious results.

Make instructions in advance

Marinate the chicken for up to 24 hours to intensify the flavor without altering the texture. Prepare the spicy mayonnaise and slice the vegetables a day in advance, keeping them in the refrigerator. For best results, assemble the rolls just before serving, but, if necessary, they can be made a few hours in advance, wrapped tightly in foil and refrigerated to keep them fresh.

Storage instructions

Store chicken separately from all other ingredients.

Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 to 4 days. The mayonnaise cream can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 month.

To freeze chicken scraps in an airtight container or resealable plastic freezer bag. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before using.
