Notes on ingredients
🧄 Allium: I ask for sweet onions (like Vidalia or sweet onions), garlic, and shallots/green onions. You can also experiment with a mix of other alliums, such as shallots, red onion or chives.
🍶 Sour cream: Full-fat sour cream serves as the base for this dip, but I’ve also tried it with plain Greek yogurt and it’s a great substitute.
🌶️ Spicy Tadka: The spicy tadka (or spiced oil) features a mix of my classic pantry staples, including cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and chili powder along with minced garlic. You can use any combination of whole and dried spices you like!
TIP: For a milder dip, omit the chili powder.
