Shrimp Po Boy is one of my all-time favorite Southern foods. If someone had told me how hard it was to find a decent Po Boy in Los Angeles I probably never would have moved here.
Luckily, they’re pretty simple to make. I use a small one Fryer for the prawns, but you can also fry them in a Iron pan.
I LOVE the kick the Nashville spice glaze gives the shrimp. If you need to cool it down a bit, add a little tartar sauce, or my favorite, kewpie mayonnaise.
Looking for more new shrimp recipes to try? How about fried bang bang shrimp with creamy, spicy sauce? Or maybe you prefer something lighter, like homemade hibachi shrimp.

Instructions
-
Take two bowls. In a bowl, mix together the milk, eggs and hot sauce. In the other bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
-
Heat oil in deep fryer or cast iron skillet to 325 degrees F.
-
Take each prawn and dip it in the flour, then dip it in the milk/egg mixture and again in the flour. Shake off excess between each step.
-
Fry the shrimp in batches (I could fit 4-5 at a time in my small fryer), for about 4 minutes. Move to a wire rack.
-
To make the Nashville Hot frosting, heat the butter until melted (I just use the microwave). Add the cayenne pepper, brown sugar, salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder.
-
Brush each side of the fried shrimp.
-
To assemble the Po Boy, fill the French roll with lettuce and sliced tomato. Top with hot Nashville shrimp and sliced pickles. If you prefer, add tartar sauce.
