Spring
Blueberry Green Tea Latte

I’m sitting here writing with my first tan of the year and a dirty forehead. Yes, I’ve been working hard in the garden, planting flowers from the nursery to spruce up the place (it looked a little barren after digging up many some treasures from my garden to temporarily store at my parents’ house this summer while the farm is under construction.) But things are looking so much nicer now, and if you can’t tell from the photos, the wisteria on the patio is blooming like CRAZY and saturating the entire garden area with its sweet scent. Thank goodness for flowers! After many days of working outside in the sun, I was desperately craving a refreshing iced latte. But instead of buying one prepared at the bar, it’s much tastier (and much easier… and much cheaper too) to make one at home! And so today I’m sharing with you this tasty and simple Blueberry Green Tea Latte to help fuel you up for your late spring blueberry harvest. Woohoo!

The recipe is incredibly simple. Simply boil some blueberries, sugar and water together and then strain them. And voila! You have blueberry syrup. Then you can simply store it in a jar in the refrigerator and mix it with some brewed green tea and milk with ice whenever you want. If you’re not a fan of matcha or green tea, you can replace it with whatever type of tea you prefer. Blueberry syrup pairs with just about any type of tea and adds a wonderful berry flavor and touch of sweetness to your latte. You can also feel free to use whatever type of milk you prefer, I use whole milk in the recipe but it tastes great with plant-based milk too (I made it with homemade cashew milk and it’s very nice! ) And if you’re more of a coffee drinker, I also have a great vanilla iced latte recipe!

We hope to list our house here in Portland for sale in a few weeks, it just depends on how soon we finish painting the inside. We do it ourselves and take our time because I like to do a thorough job (there’s something I find deeply satisfying about peeling back the tape and seeing a nice clean line between the wall and the trim!) So my goal is continue to post once a week, but if I interrupt this schedule in the month to come, please forgive me as I’m probably just elbows deep in paint and maybe packing. We’ll be moving in with my parents for the summer after we sell our house in Portland, and the farm should be finished in October, so we’ll be moving again then, too. It’s going to be an exciting few months with lots of changes, but I’m ready for it! Have a wonderful week, my friend, and talk to you soon!

  1. In a small cup, mix the blueberry syrup with half the milk and set aside. Place ice in serving glass, then pour in blueberry milk. Then pour in the remaining half of the milk and then add the matcha (this will help create a nice ombre effect. If you don’t care about the ombre effect you can just mix them all together in any order). Once you appreciate the ombre effect, you can mix it all up and have fun!
