About hot and sour dumpling soup

Dumpling soup is my latest obsession. This recipe uses minimal ingredients like garlic, spring onions, and red chili flakes as the base flavoring. It is flowered with hot oil which adds aroma. The taste is balanced with vinegar, sugar and soy sauce. For this recipe I used store bought dumplings, also known as momos. But you can also do it at home.

For the base I used hot vegetable broth. Chicken broth can be used instead of vegetable broth. You can add any cooked vegetables and cooked proteins to the soup. You can use bok choy, bamboo shoots, baby corn, spinach or broccoli. Proteins such as tofu, shrimp and chicken can be used in the soup.

This soup requires minimal cooking, just cook the momos separately and heat only the oil. It’s one of the easiest soup recipes you will ever make. For a heartier, heartier soup, add cooked noodles and cooked vegetables to the soup. You can also add pan-fried tofu to the soup.
