It is literally impossible to go to Bonefish Grill and not order the bang bang shrimp. Those crunchy, flavorful shrimp covered in sweet and spicy sauce stay on my mind 24/7!

To satisfy my cravings when I can’t go to restaurants, I started cooking them at home in the air fryer.

It turns out just as delicious, but has the advantage of being cooked with less oil. My favorite part: cleanup is a breeze compared to using an air fryer!

Suggestions

  1. Use a large air fryer like the Professional coursesor work in batches using one with a smaller basket. Do not overcrowd or overlap the shrimp.
  2. If working in batches, place cooked shrimp on a metal cooling rack over a baking sheet. Place in oven at 200F to keep warm.
  3. If fresh shrimp is difficult to find in your area, purchase frozen ones and thaw them in the refrigerator before cooking.

What to serve it with

Serve alone as an appetizer or as a main course with rice (Instant Pot Coconut Rice is delicious!), pasta, or a side salad.

It’s always a game day hit along with other snacks and appetizers like fried pickles, chicken tenders, and honey lemon pepper wings.
